1.6 million users hacked under ‘Pink’ Malware were you affected?

1.6 million devices primarily in China were targeted and infected by the new ‘Pink’ Botnet Malware, the largest botnet observed in the last six years. The malware blocks service of certain web abilities and computer abilities as well as insert advertisements into HTTP websites. The malware targets services such as GitHub, peer-to-peer networks and central command-and-control servers, and completely taking over the device to make sure control is not given back to the user. Although a good chunk of devices have already been repaired and restored, the botnet is still said to be active, comprising about 100,000 nodes.

“Internet of Things devices have become an important goal for black production organizations and even advanced persistent threats (APT organizations,: NSFOCUSS researchers said through The Hacker News yesterday that “Although Pink is the largest botnet ever discovered, it will never be the last one.”
