Twitches Leak: What you Need to Know
The recent breach in data found more than a million users exposed by an internet user on 4chan who uses the word “pwned” in the official release of the data. According to the Wall Street Journal quoted this user stating “Their community is also a disgusting toxic cesspool, so to foster more disruption and competition in the online video steaming space, we have completely pwned them,” following this a Twitch spokesperson and an amazon representative were unavailable to respond. Fairly so. Amazon bought Twitch back in 2014 for roughly $970 million in cash. The user states that this is only the first part of the leak and so far only passwords have been leaked, current users of Twitch are worried like Scott Hellyer he told the Journal “I really hope that no major personal info gets out in the rumored next part of the leak” But as explained by most major gaming communities at the moment the leak was to eventually uncover the real earnings of Twitch streamers to somehow ‘level the playing field’ so to speak and to take over accounts to steal potentially valuable information about forthcoming videogame releases.
