Apple Users Are Still Unsecure

There are still three bugs unaddressed by Apple since security researcher Deni Tokarev made several zero-day iOS vulnerabilities public. Explaining that Apple has ignored his reports and has failed to fix issues lingering for several months. Tokarev went on to tell Vice that Apple got in touch only after his complaints went public and after they saw significant media attention. Within the same article Apple apologized for the delay in responding to Deni Tokarev but that doesn’t change the fact that three bugs remain unaddressed, including a Game Center bug  that allegedly allows any app installed from the App Store to access full Apple ID email, name, Apple ID authentication tokens and lists of contacts.

Details of the vulnerabilities have been published here by Tokarev which according to MacRumors, may prompt Apple to fix them faster. They go on to explain that Tokarev first contacted Apple about these bugs between March 10th and May 4th meaning that Apple has had months to patch this issue.

Apple’s response has been to create a sort of bug bounty program for those who can spot the bugs for them, but Apple has a history of not crediting those who find bugs including Tokarev for the latest iOS update that uses his solutions. The Washington Post interviewed more than two dozen security researchers, and they said that Apple is slow to fix bugs and doesn’t always pay out what’s owed, leading researchers ot be unhappy with Apple’s program. One commenter of the MacRumorrs article, stated “So, to get Apple attention these days you have to ues the ‘go to the media whipping belt’.” and this remark couldn’t be more of a reality.
