Google’s Crimes against Identity are finally being Addressed

The saga continues for many who have had their identities stolen, misconstrued or false negative information held up for ransom by blog sites making the cover of google when their name is searched. A recent NYT article specifies how Google is finally fighting after standoff rhetoric for years they began to push back against these slader-peddling crimes and the article speaks upon what systems are being put in place to continue the fight in a conscious and concise way.

In summary:

  • ●  Since 2014 a new EU law called “the right to be forgotten” was passed,

    although fought by the court by Google has now been implemented into their

    systems of excavation, removing millions of links linked to peoples names.

  • ●  After the 2020 election of the United States president, a linked surfaced stating

    that the election was falsified and so Google stepped in and announced an initiative to inform “algorithmic updates to surface more authoritative content” to prevent (as stated in the NYT article) “misleading, false or offensive information from showing up in search results.”

  • ●  Lastly from the same NYT article“First, Google was willing to disappear nude photos put online without the subject’s consent. Then it began delisting medical information. Next came fake pornography, followed by sites with “exploitative removal” policies and then so-called doxxing content,...”

  • ●  A “known victims” system, to track previous victims to continue to monitor their identities.

    Progress seems bleak but Google conferred that they are continuing research into these topics are will continue to monitor search results under people's names.
